Tube & Ribbon Microphones
Ribbon microphones are a type of dynamic microphone. However, they use an extremely thin strip of metal suspended in a strong magnetic field, unlike the moving coil that vibrates that’s present in a standard dynamic microphone. Ribbon mics were first introduced in the 1920s and are known for their unique sonic characteristics by capturing frequencies with great accuracy (particularly the high end). Ribbon microphones are the most natural mics that you can use to capture the sound of an instrument, a voice, and even the ambience of a room. They are used mainly for capturing crisp and clear vocals or instruments. Contact us for recommendations.
