The Electrical Phono Film Company was created in October 1918 by two Danish engineers, Axel Petersen and Arnold Poulsen, plus a few talented and foresighted businessmen. Their goal was to investigate the potential of high-quality recording and construct one of the world's first synchronized sound film systems. Under adversity, the two Danish engineers and their small team had to tackle a number of seemingly insurmountable challenges.
Today, Ortofon is a micro-mechanical powerhouse that designs, develops, and distributes world-renowned Ortofon phono cartridges and components for the hearing aid industry. Ortofon has grown dramatically in the last ten years, and it is now in a phase where the adoption of modern technology has created exciting new commercial potential in the medical field. The scope of Ortofon's ISO 13485 certification includes "Manufacturing of components in plastic, rubber, and metal for the medical device industry, as well as manufacturing of Bone Conductors."
