Casio

Best known for their watches and pianos, Casio is one of the largest manufacturers of electronic keyboards in the world. Established as ‘Kashio Seisakujo’ in 1946 by Tadao Kashio, they initially started out as a ‘yubiwa pipe’ manufacturing company. The Yubiwa pipe is a finger ring that could hold a cigarette hands free. This invention came about at the end of World War 2 when cigarettes were consumed in large quantities, hence making a hefty profit. Using their earnings, they invested in electric calculators which were also a big success owing to their product’s fully electric and compact made - a novel creation in 1957.
